About Me

Hello . I am Jessie Sam’s and I am here to help for the long haul at the Animal Behaviour and Trauma Recovery Service. I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective support for caregivers and their animal companions. My mission is to help horses and dogs overcome behavioural challenges and recover from trauma through a holistic and individualised approach. I am a qualified horse and dog behaviourist and a Provisional Member of the APBC and LEGS Family dog mediator. In addition I am Equine Behaviour Specialist at Equine International Research Institute where I run the Equines as Companions Course alongside Dr Emily Kieson and work as a research assistant exploring affiliative behaviour and all aspects of horse-human interaction.
I am passionate about growing my knowledge and using the latest evidence based approaches to best support horses, dogs and their humans.
My journey began as a typical pony mad child. I have always had a love of animals and had the privilege of sharing my life with many special horses and dogs who have inspired me. My first pony Percy and my ex-racehorse Dillon gave me an understanding of how challenging it can be when the animal you care for struggles to cope and life is hard for you both.
My qualifications include: Fdsc Applied Behaviour Science and Welfare University of Greenwich Bsc Equine Health and Welfare Top Up modules below Equine Behaviour and Welfare Level 6 module Royal Agricultural University Equine Health Level 6 module Royal Agricultural University
My passion is supporting animals and their caregivers to thrive together. Supporting horses and dogs to heal from trauma and to navigate our human world. Helping caregivers to understand their animal companion and live the best life possible together.
I acknowledge how unique your animal is and I promise to help you find a way forward that best suits your horse or dog and you!
